Review converted Markdown against the original before you rely on it. Start with completeness and meaning, then check the formatting in the application where the file will be used.

Check coverage before appearance

Create a small review plan: the first page, the last page, a page in the middle and every distinct layout type. Include tables, rotated pages, scans, footnotes and appendices. This is a practical sample for finding problems, not a measured accuracy score.

Compare section headings and the first and last sentence of each sampled section. A long output file can still omit an appendix or repeat several pages. For important quotations, figures or decisions, check the actual passage in full rather than relying on the sample.

Run the content checklist

  1. Completeness: confirm the expected sections, appendices, captions and notes. Look for abrupt endings and duplicated passages.
  2. Reading order: follow paragraphs across columns and page breaks. Make sure captions and sidebars do not interrupt sentences.
  3. Data: compare row labels, units, signs, decimal separators and footnote conditions. Verify names and identifiers character by character.
  4. Usability: preview headings, lists, code blocks and tables; open image paths and links from the final file location.

Record repairs and decide what is ready

Use three outcomes in your notes: ready for the intended use, repaired and rechecked, or unresolved. For example, a document with an unreadable invoice amount can be useful for topic discovery while remaining unsuitable for calculating a total. State the limitation beside the affected text.

Save the original export and the corrected working copy separately. A diff helps explain what changed. After moving the Markdown and its image folder, test the links again. A preview checks rendering; it does not prove that the source meaning survived.

Review before using the result

A conversion is a working copy. Keep the original PDF and compare the passages you will quote, calculate from, or give to an AI assistant. A successful export does not establish that the text is complete or correct.

MD Factory converts documents to Markdown on Windows. Complex PDF tables use layout heuristics; merged cells and multiline content can need manual repair. OCR accuracy depends on the source image and text. This guide does not promise automatic cleanup or a particular recognition accuracy.

Questions and answers

What should I check first for AI input?

Completeness, reading order and the passages that matter to your question. Remove confirmed repeated page furniture only after those checks.

Does a completed conversion mean the file passed review?

It means a file was produced. Content verification is a separate step, especially for OCR, complex tables and high-impact numbers.
