SafeClean is published by GagarinSoft. This policy explains what the app reads and stores on your PC and what happens when you contact us.

Everything stays on your PC

SafeClean works entirely on your Windows PC. It has no account, no ads, no analytics and no telemetry. The app makes no network connections of its own and never sends any data to GagarinSoft or to anyone else.

What the app reads

To show your storage and find what takes space, SafeClean reads file and folder names, sizes, dates and attributes on your drives. It does this read-only and never changes anything during analysis.

For duplicate detection it also reads the contents of files, but only in the folders you choose, to compare them. It computes a fingerprint (a hash) of each file so it can tell whether two files are exactly the same. File contents are never copied, uploaded or stored by the app.

For cleanup, it looks at the locations of the cleanup categories you leave switched on, such as your temporary files folder. File names and paths can contain personal information, for example a document name. They are shown only inside the app.

What the app stores on your PC

  • History. A local record of what SafeClean did: for each action, the full file path, size, which category it belonged to, the result, and the free space before and after. It never contains file contents. By default entries are kept for 12 months. You can export the history yourself (JSON or CSV, which will contain file paths) and clear it at any time in the History page.
  • Settings. Your preferences, such as the age threshold, language, theme and which categories are on.
  • Protected items. The folders and categories you told the app never to touch.
  • Duplicate hash cache (optional). If you turn it on, the app remembers file fingerprints together with file identity, size and modified time, only to make repeat scans faster. It is never used as proof when files are changed, and you can turn it off.
  • License status. The last known trial or purchase state received from Windows, so the app can work briefly when your PC is offline.

These files are stored in your user profile (the SafeClean folder inside your local app data folder) with the normal permissions of your Windows account. SafeClean does not add its own encryption. If any SafeClean data remains after you uninstall the app, you can delete that folder.

Microsoft Store

Microsoft Store handles installation, purchases, the free trial, licensing and app updates. When the app checks whether your licence is a trial or a purchase, Windows asks Microsoft Store; GagarinSoft receives no personal information from this check. SafeClean does not require a separate account or collect your payment details.

Microsoft processes Store data under its own Privacy Statement.

Children

The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
