Nano Summarizer Privacy Policy
Nano Summarizer is designed to summarize and answer questions about the active browser tab without extension-side collection, sale, or server transfer of page content.
Who operates Nano Summarizer
Nano Summarizer is provided by GagarinSoft. This policy explains how the Nano Summarizer Chrome extension handles information when you use it.
Single purpose
Nano Summarizer privately summarizes and answers user questions about the active browser tab using local, built-in browser AI after a user action.
What the extension processes
The extension may temporarily process the following information from the tab you explicitly invoke it on:
- visible page text and readable article text;
- PDF text-layer content when available;
- TXT, Markdown, log, and CSV file text opened in the browser;
- video descriptions, comments, product details, reviews, and metadata when visible on the page;
- the active tab title and URL;
- questions you type into the side panel.
How processing happens
Nano Summarizer processes active-tab content only after you click the extension button or ask a question in the side panel. The extension uses Chrome's built-in browser AI capabilities on supported devices to generate summaries and answers locally.
The browser may download or prepare a local AI model as part of Chrome's built-in AI functionality. That model setup is handled by the browser and is separate from any extension-side data collection.
What GagarinSoft does not collect
GagarinSoft does not collect, store, sell, rent, or use for advertising:
- extracted page text;
- PDF, file, CSV, product, video, comment, or review content extracted by the extension;
- questions typed into the side panel;
- generated summaries or generated answers;
- browsing history.
No extension servers for page content
Nano Summarizer does not send extracted active-tab content, user questions, summaries, or answers to GagarinSoft servers. The extension does not provide a cloud AI fallback.
Permissions
Nano Summarizer uses the minimum Chrome permissions needed for its single purpose:
- activeTab: temporary access to the tab you invoke the extension on.
- scripting: injection of the text extractor into the active tab after user action.
- sidePanel: display of progress, errors, summaries, and question UI in Chrome's side panel.
The extension does not request broad host permissions, storage permission, tabs permission, background network access permission, or remote-code permissions.
Data sharing
GagarinSoft does not sell user data, does not use user data for advertising, and does not transfer extracted active-tab content or user questions to third parties through the extension.
Retention
Nano Summarizer does not persist extracted page text, user questions, summaries, or answers in extension storage. The extension may keep temporary in-memory state while the side panel is open so it can display the current result and handle follow-up interactions.
Limitations
Some browser pages may block extension access, some documents may not expose readable text, and some Chrome builds or devices may not support the required built-in AI model. Generated summaries and answers may be incomplete or incorrect, so important information should be verified against the original source.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. Material changes will be reflected before or when an updated extension version is published.
